Add Technorati Link Count Widget to your Blogger Posts

Technorati has been of great use to me while building this blog. Using Technorati has helped me get a better understanding of which content is the most popular, and also learn what others think of Blogger Buster through examining blog reactions to my posts.

Recently I added a "blog reactions" link beneath my posts. This updates dynamically to include the number of reactions picked up by Technorati which link to this particular post.

The Technorati Blog Reactions widget is very easy to install in Blogger powered blogs, so if you're interested in adding this link beneath your own blog posts, here is how this can be achieved.

Instructions to add Technorati Blog Reactions Widget

  1. Go to Layout>Edit HTML in your Blogger dashboard, and check the "Expand Widget Templates" box.
  2. Find the following line of code in your template (an easy method is to use the CTRL+F keyboard shortcut:
    <p><data:post.body/></p>
  3. Immediately after this line, copy and paste the following section of code:

    <script src='http://embed.technorati.com/linkcount' type='text/javascript'/> <a expr:href='&quot;http://technorati.com/search/&quot; + data:post.url' rel='linkcount'>View blog reactions</a>
  4. Finally, save your template!

Once you have installed this widget, Technorati will update each individual post featuring this widget to include the number of blog reactions. It may take a few moments to come into effect, so don't worry of you don't see the effects immediately!

I hope this tutorial has been useful for you too! If you've enjoyed this post, please consider subscribing to Blogger Buster for future updates and Blogger news.

Hi Amanda. I really love your articles in your Blogger Buster. I have applied some of your tips to my blog http://momspumpkinsoup.blogspot.com. Mainly your tips related to StumbleUpon and MyBlogLog. Not to mention your ebook to customize blogger templates. This Technorati Blog Reaction may also be added to my blog pretty soon. Thanks for the great tips!

For Yaditya: Thanks for stopping by! I'm always happy to know my blog has been useful for others.

For Karat: That's a great idea! I know that some templates don't feature the post footer lines in the mark-up (which is why I explained to paste under the post body) though I always think such widgets look great in the post footer section where other links are housed. Thanks for the suggestion :)

Hi Amanda,

Thanks for being consistent in sharing useful tips. Installing this is as easy as 1-2-3.

I cannot count anymore the changes in my blogs courtesy of your generosity.

By the way, today is the draw for the contest I joined in, wherein you may receive 1,000ec because of the post I made about you. I remember I send you an email about this.

Let's cross our fingers then.

Again, thanks.

Amanda,

I'm using the Rounders 3 template you posted on your site. Unfortunately I cannot seem to locate the line of code you mention needing to look for. I have tried to place in various places that reference the post section and no luck getting it to show up. Any sggestions?

Thanks

Thanks for this I will add it to my list of things I have obtained from your site to add to my blog.

I have to say I love how simple and easy you make your instructions - and of course that they work so well!

I have looked through your site a lot and I cannot see if you have done this or not but I would like to be able to keep a better eye on the "Links to This Post" backlinks function that Blogger has.

Currently the only way I can tell if someone has created a link is to go through our blog and click on each and every post because I cannot find any other way of telling at a glance. It would be great if the links to this post could sit under the Labels, viewable from the front page.
