How to create an "Admin Control Panel" in your layout

For those of us who hide the Blogger nav-bar, it can be awkward to access our Blogger dashboards to create a new post, change settings or customize the layout of our blogs.

So after a bit of brainstorming, I realized how we could add an "Admin control panel" to our Blogger template, which is only visible to the administrators of a blog (and not to regular readers).

You can read my method and instructions in full over at BloggingTips.com, where I write regular posts about Blogger and blog design. I hope this article will be useful for many of you! Please let me know your opinions about this post by leaving a comment here or at Blogging Tips where you can read through the archives of Blogger tutorials and enjoy loads of other tips about blogging.

I know of another way to get to the dashboard, easy too. Log in to the Google account that the blog(s) is/are associated with. Then just go to "blogger.com". Since you are technically logged in, you automatically reach your account dashboard.

That's really cool. Hey but I heard on the discussion group that romoving nav basr is against the blogger TOS. I am afraid. Is it really safe to remove nav bar?

I know this is unrelated but it's the quickest way to get in contact with you.

Is it possible for you to use your influence to get blogger to add categories?

look: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b5/WordPress_Administration.png

Categories are the ONLY thing keeping me from fully moving to blogger. I'd try to get a campaign started but I don't have as many visitors. Come on, help your fellow bloggers out!

I just sent the following:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b5/WordPress_Administration.png <- Notice, there's a section for tags AND a for categories! Blogger needs categories. I'm still using Livejournal due to the lack of categories. Heck, 1up them and do nested cats.

Amanda I just recently bought a domain name for my blog but now after I added a .com I can't see my admin control panel and also all the edit tools. I see the blog like I'm just a visitor. Is this normal or is there a way I can change it back to normal?
