The Blogger Team have released Product Ideas for Blogger: a forum based on the Product Ideas platform which enables us to suggest and vote on new Blogger features, gadgets and even Blogs of Note:

One of the primary factors that drive innovation and improvements on Blogger is the voice of our users. We always take your feedback to heart, and we use it do help make Blogger the best service it can possibly be.

Take a look at this screenshot to get an idea of how this forum works:


We can log in to Product Ideas for Blogger using our Google account, then vote on existing suggestions by clicking the tick (vote up) or cross (vote down).

When you choose a category (features, gadgets or Blogs of Note) you will be presented with a question you have not yet voted on, followed by the most popular suggestions.

You can also get an idea of the ratio of "thumbs up" and "thumbs down" votes by looking at the vote bars to the right of the suggestions:

It's also possible to view the ideas suggested by a particular user by clicking on the name below each suggestion (take a look at mine here).

I'm really excited about this new feature, and think it is the perfect way for the Blogger team to see the features (and recommended blogs) which are most desired by the Blogger community. While we have previously been able to suggest a new feature and suggest blogs of note, these forms gave us no indication of how popular these suggestions were. This forum enables us to see what others have suggested, how popular these suggestions are, and also to vote these up or down depending on our own preferences.

  1. Does the Blogger Product Idea page have a time limit?

    I noticed the bottom of the page in your first screen shot, reads (1 week), reads the same way, when I visted the page.

    I voted for a few. :)

  5. Bout time they opened it up to suggestions and ideas. Maybe they'll actually implement some of them!

  6. Oh and one thing I wanted to say... Before making suggestions, read the ones that area already on there. I've noticed tons of duplicates. I've also noticed people suggesting things that are already possible.

  10. There are a lot of small things that could be changed but can be accomplished by hacks.

    What must change I think is custom 404 pages and 301 redirect when you change your blog's URL.

  13. Speaking of things that are already possible @Brad F, I've noticed that a lot of people are interested in a "bulk image upload." If you're using Firefox, it's already possible and incredibly easy.

    (1) A iPhone version of my Blogspot Blog. When they view on iPhone it should redirect to an iPhone version. Tumblr has one on Tumblrphone.com so Blogspot should too!

    (2) Adsense for Custom Search within the template for Blogspot blogs, this can only be done on Wordpress not Blogspot!

    (3) View count for each post

    (4) Related posts

    (5) Static pages

    (6) Contact form

  18. Very nice! I hope for the following:

    1) Remove the navbar or make it optional.
    2) Better custom domain support, and ability to publish to "naked domains" (no www) if the domain was bought from a third party registrar and not through Blogger.
    3) Better comment moderation & Akismet or similar spam filter.

    I don't mind if they make these features into some sort of paid version. Navbar particularly annoys me.
